Tim Christensen

Statement

My work involves a reinterpretation of traditional themes of still life, figure and landscape painting. I work to express the power and elegance of simple forms and everyday shapes; to enhance rather than to depict; and to create a subtle drama on canvas that reaches for an emotional level through the use of contrast of color, texture, shape and rhythm.
The tactile feel of the paint an canvas, the scale of the image, the emotional content of the color all work to create a powerful sensory experience. Finding just that right shape of light that makes a painting come together is a profoundly rewarding experience.
